Sian Blanchard
Head of Patient Safety Insights
Sian is the Head of Patient Safety Insights at the Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB).
Sian is a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a chartered occupational psychologist with the British Psychological Society, where she was awarded a Fellowship for her contributions to safety risk management.
Before working in healthcare, she worked in safety risk management and human factors roles in commercial aviation, rail, defence, consultancy, and teaching. She draws on her experience of other sectors to provide cross-industry insights to healthcare.
Sian is interested in safety management systems and how this approach could enhance how safety is managed in healthcare to improve patient outcomes. She is also an advocate of equality and inclusion and strongly believes that healthcare should be accessible and inclusive to everyone.
