Report: Recommendations but no action
The NHS Consortium for Global Health (NHSC) provides a point of access to expertise from the UK’s national health organisations, including the major NHS executive non-departmental public bodies. With oversight from the Department of Health and Social Care, it aligns with UK government strategy to foster effective peer-to-peer health partnerships with partner countries to strengthen health systems and advance health protection and health equity.
HSSIB has been a member of NHSC since August 2024. Other consortium members include NHS England, UK Health Security Agency, Care Quality Commission, NHS Resolution, Public Health Wales, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, Office for National Statistics, NHS Health Research Authority and Office for Health Improvement and Disparities.
In 2023, in response to increased global interest in our work, HSSIB led the establishment of the International Patient Safety Organisations Network (IPSON). HSSIB chaired IPSON between 2023-2026 and grew the network to 18 member countries before passing the baton to Ireland to lead.
IPSON brings together countries with an active patient safety organisation and those who aspire to have one. The objective of the network is to share learning, gain an understanding of the global common challenges we face and work on recommendations together to have a shared impact on patient safety.
