Nick Woodier
Senior Safety Investigator
Nick is a qualified medical doctor with a background practicing emergency medicine. In response to his growing interest in safety science, he redirected his career and is now a human factors specialist with chartership through the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
Nick joined us in 2019 following several years working in the NHS acute sector. In the NHS he held various roles leading safety investigations and governance programmes. He initially joined us in our intelligence unit before becoming an investigator in 2020.
Nick’s specialist areas include investigation methodologies and tools, qualitative research, and supporting people after traumatic events. He holds a master’s degree in human factors and was awarded his PhD by the University of Nottingham for research into safety in healthcare and other safety-critical industries. He also holds a small teaching commitment at the University of Nottingham as an Honorary Assistant Professor.
