Siân Blanchard

Siân is a Senior Safety Investigator and has a professional background as a chartered occupational psychologist and human factors specialist. She joined us in February 2021.

Siân was previously Head of Patient Safety Insights, leading a team of safety science analysts to scope HSSIB investigations using a range of safety intelligence and evidence-based research methods. Siân changed roles to become a healthcare investigator drawing on previous safety investigation experience in other high reliability sectors.

Siân supports challenging the health and care system to ensure that care is inclusive and accessible to everyone. She draws on 20 years’ experience applying human factors in defence, rail and commercial aviation, and is interested in how proactive safety risk management principles may be applied to health and care.

She holds professional registrations with the Health and Care Professions Council, the British Psychological Society and the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors. She is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
