FOI request
I would like to make a FOI request for information relating to the numbers of deaths and injuries relating to medical devices in the UK from 2020-2024. I would like to know which devices and the situation around the death or injury for example device fault, user error, etc.
Decision
a) Before providing our response, it is important to note the following.
Part of the timeframe for the request (2020-September 2023) was a time when HSSIB was not in existence. HSSIB can only provide data from 1 October 2023 onwards, the date on which it came into existence as an independent arm's length body.
Data held by the former body Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) prior to 1 October 2023 should be requested from NHS England.
