Nicola Vick

Nicola joined HSSIB in April 2025 as a Safety Insights Analyst. With a background in mental health social work, Nicola has also worked in research and regulatory roles with a particular focus on the safety, quality and effectiveness of mental health care.

Nicola has experience of carrying out national research studies and thematic reviews including leading a review of acute inpatient mental health services for the Healthcare Commission and a thematic review of mental health crisis care for the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Her interest in patient safety was sparked by her responsibility as the CQC cross sector data lead for the national patient safety data sets and her work to develop analysis and tools for inspection staff to support the ongoing monitoring of providers. She is passionate about working as part of an organisation focused on improving the safety of healthcare and which could have a positive impact on the care and treatment people receive.
